The Procedure of a Fraxel Laser Treatment

Imagine your skin growing new collagen fibers from the deeper layers of the skin and making your skin look much younger, brighter, and complete. If you have sunburns, acne scars, wrinkles, or age-related spots on your skin, you may take up a Fraxel laser treatment.

You may consult an expert in Fraxel in New York, and the expert will guide you with the procedure and inform you about what has to be done before and after the treatment.

    Procedure:

The procedure for Fraxel laser treatment can be divided into three parts for better understanding.

    • Before the procedure: before starting the process, the doctor asks questions regarding your medical history and any complications like diabetes or allergies. This helps the doctor understand if you are the right candidate for Fraxel laser treatment.

Before the procedure begins, you need to follow some rules, as following these rules will help you get the desired results and significantly reduce the chances of complications. Some of these rules include avoiding smoking, avoiding exposure to the sun, and taking medications prescribed by the doctor before the procedure, as this helps the body get ready for the procedure.

    • During the procedure: the skin area that has to be treated is administered with a numbing agent to avoid any discomfort during the process. The laser used in the procedure destroys the outer layer of the skin called the epidermis. The laser beam also stimulates the underlying dermal layer to release collagen, giving skin a fresh look.

This part of the treatment can last anywhere between thirty minutes to two hours, depending upon the area of the skin being treated.

It may also take a couple of sessions to get complete results.

    • After the procedure: the skin appears to be red and swollen after the process. It takes almost 1-2 weeks for complete recovery, and during this period, it is avoided to take part in any activities that could give rise to an infection. Cosmetics are also supposed to be avoided as they could irritate the skin and prolong the recovery.

Besides excellent results and quick recovery, the procedure also has risks like changing skin color, acne, infection, or scarring.

Before going ahead with the procedure, discuss all the risk factors and possible outcomes of the procedure. Moreover, if you have any underlying condition, do talk to your doctor about these conditions as well.
