Arrive at Kathmandu Airport. When your plane lands you will disembark, enter the airport terminal and obtain your visa on arrival from one of the friendly immigration clerks in the arrival hall. Be sure to bring your passport sized photo and your $100 cash. Go downstairs to the baggage hall, pick up your luggage, and then exit the terminal and look for our staff who are there to meet you, carrying the SummitClimb sign. They will put you in the airport van and bring you to our hotel. It’s about a 20 minute drive to our hotel.
In Kathmandu: Last Minute Preparations: Our hotel is the friendly clean well located hot water standard Harati Hotel, located in the Thamel tourist district of Kathmandu. The Harati Hotel has a very nice lobby and serves a delicious breakfast. You may also wish to book the 5-star Yak and Yeti Hotel, which is also near to Thamel. We will be eating lunch and dinner in one of the many tasty restaurants of Thamel, which also has many pleasant cafes, bakeries, and pubs. We will have a special welcome group dinner in Thamel. Our leaders and staff will check all of your trekking and climbing equipment in your room in the hotel. They will help you buy and rent/hire whatever you need. Most of our Lobuche Peak members will rent/hire some of their equipment, boots, and clothing. There are more than 100 outdoor and mountaineering shops within walking distance of our hotel, so it is really easy for our staff to take you shopping and you can find all of the equipment you need at good prices.
Flying to Lukla: We will wake up early, depart the Harati Hotel and drive back to the Kathmandu Airport (domestic terminal) which takes 20 minutes, or sometimes we drive for 4 hours to the regional airport of Mainthali-Ramechap. Then we will board our 16 seat plane for the exciting and beautiful 30 minute flight to Lukla airport at 2860m / 9380 ft. Sometimes we use a helicopter for this flight, and that works well too. Yes, it is possible to see Everest during the flight! Upon reaching Lukla, we will claim our baggage and head to Lukla’s famous Namaste Lodge for a delicious brunch. We will complete a few paperwork formalities in Lukla and then begin our trek.
During your trek, we will provide you three skillfully cooked meals each day, with lots of hot drinks.
