Another option is to source all of the employees to work on site yourself. You will be able to control the day to day operations and choose who to employ. However, many individuals may find this process too overwhelming as there is a lot to think about. You also want to ensure that any contractors you employ have the necessary level of experience to ensure your self build is a success. One of the best things to look out for is whether the workers have a CSCS card. This ensures that they have the appropriate experience for the position they are currently working as, and it makes sure that they have passed their health and safety understanding.

Of course, there is the option to do much of the building process yourself, as long as you have experience. You might want to manage the construction site as well as actually build, in which case it would be highly advantageous to have a NVQ qualification.

The only issue with this option is that you are unlikely to get as much freedom when it comes to customising the house as they have to be easily made in a factory.
