How to fix a water damaged phone is probably the number one question on every mobile phone owner’s mind these days. If you have an old phone, or even if you just bought a phone, it is highly likely that it will at some time become damaged due to exposure to water. But how? How do phones get wet? What kind of damage can they suffer? And most importantly, how long do phones last when they are placed in water?

It is very important to know how to fix a water damaged phone. It will save you a lot of time and money, so keep reading. First things first, we need to understand what exactly water damage is. This kind of damage is caused by exposure to water for any extended period of time. The actual

term is “water intrusion”, which is used in the same context as “water logging” in that it is an eventual and undesired outcome of prolonged exposure to water.

So how to fix a water damaged phone? To start with, turn off the phone’s power button and remove any SIM card. Then remove all the components from the phone, keeping in mind that you should never remove the battery until all the circuits are unplugged. Do not attempt to turn the phone back on if you are in the process of restoring your phone to full function; you may end up permanently damaging it. If you have already opened the phone up and are about to put it back together, then make sure that you leave all the connections that you had removed (including the battery) behind, as you will not be able to put the phone back together without these connections.

Next, remove any storage devices that you have placed on the phone. This may include such things as a memory card or a secondary battery. If you had placed one of these storage devices in the phone before you had water damaged it, you will have to disassemble them in order to remove them. If you did not, then you can use a small knife to remove as much of the plastic as possible.

Now that you have removed all the items from your phone, you should remove the SIM card as well. You can do this either by hand or with the help of a USB cord. If you intend to do the removal by hand, it is important to first plug the cord into an electrical outlet and ensure that you have a power outlet available. Otherwise, you may find that you cannot plug the cord in at all, resulting in damage to your phone if you try to do the removal while your phone is still connected to the SIM card.

Once you have successfully removed the SIM card, you will need to remove the housing from the phone. In most cases, this will require some physical effort. However, you can use a soft cloth to gently remove the cover on your phone. This is easier if you have already taken the SIM card out of your phone. If your phone does not have a cover, you will need to use a card lube to ensure that the phone is free of any dirt and grease.

Next, you will want to disconnect the power cord. If the phone is not currently powered on, you will need to turn the phone off. Once you have done so, you will need to unplug the cord from the wall. You can then remove the card from the back of your phone. It is important to note that you will most likely have to insert the card several times in order to make sure that it is completely seated. Once the card is securely in place, you can close the cellophane wrap.

Finally, if you are concerned that you may be unable to get your phone working again, you can purchase an original battery for your phone. The batteries are sold at most local retailers. If you choose to replace the battery with an original, you can ensure that your phone functions just as it did before the damage occurred. In order to determine how to fix a severely water damaged phone, it is important that you seek immediate professional attention if the problem occurs. Contact your local cell phone repair service and inquire about the appropriate solution for you. Sometimes if the water damage is so severe that the motherboard is damaged or fuses become short the phone cannot be salvaged. To avoid this, take the necessary precautions like removing the battery as soon as you know there is moisture and just leaving the phone alone so it can dry out. It’s usually best to have a professional clean out the phone of any water residue and damage.

Other preventative measures are to make sure that you don’t have any water leaks or damaged pipes in your home. This will obviously affect how much water you can avoid from your phone getting in it. Find a plumber to fix blocked drains in Melbourne or whichever area you are in so it doesn’t cause a huge plumbing issue that can accidentally ruin your phone too.
