    There are plenty of law colleges in Mumbai. However, to gain meaningful experience during one’s academic years, it is essential to choose a college that offers good infrastructure, has competent faculty members, and promotes practical learning. Thus, it is vital to check out all the available options before making a decision. This article mentions the fee structure of some of the top law colleges in Mumbai.

    Eligibility criteria to get admission to a law college in Mumbai

    Undergraduate admissions- Candidates who choose to pursue law after high school need to score the required percentage during their 12th-grade examinations to be eligible. Each college has a different cut-off for students. Along with this, the mandatory criteria is to appear for the national law exam. Some of the standard entrance examinations conducted on a National scale or university level for admission to undergraduate courses include CLAT, SLAT, etc.

    Postgraduate admissions- those who want to pursue post-graduation in law after completing their bachelor’s in law must hold a valid undergraduate degree and clear the entrance exam for postgraduate admission.

    Diploma courses- admission for diplomas and certificate courses in law are based on marks scored in 12th grade. However, detailed criteria may vary from college to college.

    Admission procedure

    Top law colleges in Mumbai accept entry into their 5-year law programs based on the scores obtained in common law admission tests. Different law institutes accept scores from various exams conducted on a national/institutional level. These exams are conducted to gain admission in both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

    1)      CLAT

    CLAT (common law admission test) is a 2-hour long computerized, structured admission test conducted at 18 major national law government universities in India. It is the most popular test to get admission in law courses. An MCQ-type paper assesses a candidate’s mathematical abilities, English comprehension, general knowledge, current affairs, civics, logical reasoning, etc.

    2)      All India Law Entry Testing (AILET)

    The NL University of Delhi conducts this exam for admission in BA, LLB courses and consists of parts such as logical reasoning, numerical aptitude, legal ability, etc.,

    3)      Law School Admittance Test (LSAT)

    It is a structured 3-hour 30-minute exam conducted to assess an examinee’s analytical and interpretational abilities.

    4)      Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET)

    This admission test is conducted by Symbiosis International University and consists of parts like legal ability, analytical skills, general knowledge, and logical ability.
