Anna Kavanaugh is certainly busy. She is an American writer, documentary film and broadcast series producer, and journalist. She is the President and Creative Director of the independent production company, Living Eden Media. The company has produced several documentaries focused on environmental and humanitarian interests.
Anna was born and raised in Oregon where she still enjoys life in the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest and its diverse wildlife. It is there the direction of her work in advocacy first developed, steeped in local Indigenous culture and injustices from an early age. She lives a quiet and private life surrounded by the splendor and serenity found in the harmony of nature, animal and marine life, and outdoor activities.
Anna Kavanaugh first began her career as an author, penning six novels before making the decision in 2008 to pursue academic interests and research into other areas, as well as shifting to documentary film and broadcast productions that could bring a tangibility to her message on serious issues better than what could be presented in novel works of fiction.
She founded the non-profit Anna Kavanaugh Charitable Foundation, and serves as its Divisions Director in many areas of expertise and crisis response. Her work through the foundation is dedicated to humanitarian and philanthropic initiatives, providing no-cost assistance to many in need.
While her writing, educational film projects, and broadcast series continue to impact and inspire audiences, her contributions as an academic and key-note speaker, environmentalist, conservationist, advocate of sustainability and animal and human rights, together with societal issues such as racial justice, and pioneering cyber safety and standards, she has gained respect across multiple areas of work and among the communities and families who have greatly benefited.
Her goal with her foundation was to create a network of professional responders to meet critical needs and services that were not available elsewhere, with many victims of various injustices falling through the cracks. She was shocked to
discover how overwhelming the need is and how many reach out to the foundation in hope of finding relief. This realization strengthened her resolve, intensified her focus, and further defined the future of her work.
Anna Kavanaugh does not shy away in her projects from daring narratives that spark discussion and subvert modern ideologies. She is known for her artistically inspired fiction, provocative filmmaking, passionately raising of awareness, rigorous commitment to research, and genre bending. She is a fearless force in thought-provoking concepts through her inventive and captivating writing. Between her artistic pursuits and scholarly studies, she has struck a seamless balance in her body of work to date. In an ever changing and frightening world, Anna’s advocacy is sure to continue to inspire, elevate, comfort, and impact for the better our global society as we face extreme challenges.
Whether writing, filmmaking, speaking, or providing crisis support services and protocols through her foundation, Anna intrigues with her unique mixture of compassion, intelligence, personal experience, and fierce unwavering advocacy of the subject matters she is most passionate about. Many relate to her work on a deep level as she conveys strong themes of hope and resiliency in great suffering and injustice, and the tenacity of the human spirit.
