Spring is approaching, and mosquitoes around the country are preparing for their busiest season. Indeed, those of us who had a moderate winter have already noticed and heard mosquitoes flying around. Yes! Sooner or later you’d begin to hear those annoying buzzing sounds. Because only female mosquitoes attack people and males normally avoid human contact, the high-pitched whine and buzzing sounds we hear are most likely from female mosquitoes. Female mosquitoes require the protein and iron found in the blood of birds, mammals, reptiles, and other amphibians to lay their eggs. And the truth is, they mean business when it comes to producing those eggs. As such, pest control, and best practices are better advised. You can click here for the best responsive pest control service.

With that in mind, our greatest protection against the bite is to make our houses and yards as unappealing to all those mosquitoes as possible. It’s important to remember that it’s not simply about itching from bites as mosquitoes can carry and spread dangerous illnesses. In addition to home preventive measures, it is important to get expert pest control help to save you from the risks of these annoying bloodsuckers.

    Preventive Measures

    1. Dumping is Essential

When the sprinklers have stopped and the rain has ceased, step outside and take a thorough look around your house. Tarps on automobiles and outdoor equipment should fit firmly and not droop. Check outside pet bowls, as well as the surface of flowerpots and pot saucers, regularly for any evidence of “wigglers” mosquito larvae.

    2. Pick up your trash.

Littering dirt around is not an ideal practice for any home, especially in this period. You can plan a weekly litter patrol when you’ll clean up cups, bottles, cans, and other trash that should be discarded. Virtually anything that contains water, even a tiny quantity, can become a mosquito breeding ground.

    3. Avoid Stagnant Water

Mosquitoes require stagnant, calm water to lay their eggs and for the young to hatch and mature. Keeping gutters clean, fully emptying kiddie pools and water buckets after use, and keeping bird baths supplied with fresh water is especially crucial during mosquito season.

    4. Tires should be drained or discarded.

Remove old vehicle tires from your yard and drill drainage holes in the bottoms of tire swings. Tires are major mosquito breeding grounds. It makes no difference whether the water comes from rain, sprinklers, or runoff. It’s difficult to empty the water of an old tire. So they’re best discarded.

    5. Clear Overgrown Bushes And Plant Repellants

Mosquitoes are attracted to overgrown bushes, trees, weeds, and tall grass. Keeping lawns neat helps keep insects at bay. Consider planting mosquito-repelling flowers, herbs, and plants such as marigolds, peppermint, lavender, chrysanthemums, pennyroyal, citronella grass, lemon eucalyptus, and feverfew.

    Conclusion

A few basic actions will reduce your chances of drawing mosquitos to your house. Furthermore, it’s never too early to make your outdoor spaces “no-whine zones” for spring and beyond.
